Not only can you see this iconic rocky outcrop towering over Coromandel but you can now get to it too. Head South and onto the 309 Road. Turn left off the 309 Road just past the Waterworks onto Castle Rock Road. Experience the peace and quiet as you ride through an established pine plantation. The road is reasonably steep but the bikes will tear up the gravel with ease. A trip surprisingly achievable for most people. The track concludes at the base of Castle Rock right at the start of the walking track. Lock your bike at the bottom and take the one hour return hike up to the summit for expansive views across both sides of the Coromandel.
Toilets and café available close to Castle Rock Road at the Waterworks or return to the Mussel Kitchen on the cnr of 309 Rd and SH25.
